ART
Adaptive Radiation Therapy
Addresses potential daily changes in the location of the tumor and other important structures by adjusting the radiation treatment plan daily. Utilizing daily imaging such as cone beam CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the treatment team evaluates the planned radiation delivery and makes adjustments to provide more precise cancer treatment.
SBRT
Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy
Used to treat tumors outside the brain, including those located in the lungs, liver, spine, and other areas of the body. SBRT delivers highly focused radiation doses over a limited number of treatments while minimizing radiation exposure to nearby healthy tissues.
SABR
Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy
Another term commonly used to describe highly precise, high-dose radiation treatment delivered in a small number of sessions. SABR is increasingly used in the treatment of certain cancers and other conditions where precise targeting is critical.
