Dr. Stewart Gaede
PHYSICS DIRECTOR
Dr. Stewart Gaede is the inaugural Physics Director of the Canadian Adaptive Stereotactic Radiation Association (CASRA). He is Chief Medical Physicist at the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, London Health Sciences Centre, and an Associate Professor in Oncology and Medical Biophysics at Western University.
His clinical and research career has focused on the development, implementation, and optimization of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR), with applications spanning lung, liver, breast, pancreatic, and oligometastatic cancers. He has played a leading physics role in numerous prospective clinical trials, including the landmark SABR-COMET trial and subsequent studies that helped establish the role of SABR in oligometastatic disease.
His research also encompasses multimodality imaging, image guidance, respiratory motion management, adaptive radiotherapy, and emerging stereotactic applications including cardiac radioablation, with an emphasis on translating new technologies into safe, precise, and high-quality clinical practice.
